* AVIATION: Foreign airlines are likely to be allowed to operate Airbus A380 aircraft in India with the aviation ministry setting up a group to study and decide time slots for the aircraft at local airports.

* BANKING: RBI has asked banks to put in place a comprehensive performance Management Information System at various supervisory levels as a step towards boosting lending to micro and small enterprises.

- The finance ministry has opposed India Post's plan to seek commercial banking licence from the RBI on grounds that the postal service does not have the expertise needed in the relevant area.

* DEFENCE: Ministry of Defence has invited tenders from eight foreign aerospace vendors co-producing 56 medium transport aircraft to replace the Indian Air Force's Hawker Siddeley 748M Avro aircraft ageing fleet.

* ENERGY: The government has eased environment and forest clearance norms to increase coal output and ensure time-bound completion of infrastructure projects.

* EXCHANGES: BSE has reviewed and made changes to the composition of its S&P BSE Mid-cap and Small-cap indices effective Monday.

- National Stock Exchange will conduct a special trading session on Monday for gold exchange traded funds on Akshaya Tritiya.

- BSE is looking to set up trading application suitable for social media to bring in foreign retail investors to the Indian markets through the qualified foreign investor route.

* FERTILISER: The government has approved revival of five closed units of Fertiliser Corp of India and waived 106.44 bln rupees worth of loans and interest provided by the centre.

* HEALTHCARE: International Finance Corporation has proposed to invest about $25 mln in Chennai-based Ravindranath GE Medical Associates.

* MINING: The Odisha government has increased iron ore mining cap for two of its mining circles, Joda and Koira, for the current financial year, a source said.

* RETAIL: Foreign multi-brand retail chains would not be restricted to invest the mandatory $50 mln to greenfield facilities alone and are free to buy a brownfield project with the same investment.

* SHIPPING: The ministry of shipping plans to merge two projects of Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust's fourth container terminal worth 40 bln rupees each in to one.

* TAXES: Several unresolved issues between central and state governments may prevent final decision on the goods and services tax in May 10-11 meet.

* TELECOM: Vodafone India has moved the Delhi High Court against the Department of Telecommunications for not extending its licences in Mumbai, Delhi and Kolkata circles beyond 2014.
