Stocks of fast moving consumer goods companies are seen moving in line with the broader market
due to lack of fresh cues. The Nifty FMCG index is likely to track benchmark Nifty 50 next week.
FMCG could remain under pressure in near term.

Retail sales for FMCG companies are also likely to be hit in the coming days due to the ongoing cash
crunch on account of the government's decision to withdraw 500- and 1,000-rupees notes from
circulation. The government on Tuesday withdrew notes of 500 rupees and 1,000 rupees from
circulation and gave general public time till Dec 30 to exchange these notes. It has, however,
imposed certain caps on the limit of exchange and withdrawal of currency.

Rise in cost of inputs such as flour, sugar, palm oil, and cashew are also likely to drag down these
companies. In Jul-Sep, prices of flour rose by 15% and those of sugar grew by 46%. The
government's move to reduce import duty on wheat has helped stabilise wheat prices.
Flour, sugar, and cashew are major ingredients used in the manufacture of biscuits, cakes, and rusks,
while palm oil is an important ingredient for soaps, detergents, cosmetics, and certain fairness
creams and products.

Companies such as Godrej Consumer Products could benefit from the rise in sales of insecticides as
the demand for such products increases on the back of adequate monsoon rains and new product
launches. Godrej Consumer is likely to witness improvement second half (Oct-Mar) in the
international business, mainly due to revival in Indonesia business as household insecticides
segment growth improves. Company continues to aggressively launch new products which has

enhanced its position in core categories.

The shares of fast moving consumer goods companies are likely to remain in a range
next week as the market awaits results of major companies in the sector. Hindustan
Unilever Ltd, Asian Paints Ltd, and Kansai Nerolac Paints Ltd are among the major
companies scheduled to detail their earnings for the September quarter next week.

We believe the gross margin expansion would be lower with sequential increase in
certain commodity prices. Commodity prices have been on the rise for the past few
months as the country had experienced two consecutive years of drought in 2014 and
2015. Though monsoon rains in 2016 have been normal, the green shoots are likely to
appear only by the December quarter. We expect our consumer universe's revenue and
profit after tax to increase 10.2% and 15.8%, respectively, in Jul-Sep. Demand remains
steady, with no meaningful pick-up.

HUL is seen posting a standalone net profit of 10.5 bln rupees on net sales of 80.7 bln
rupees in the quarter ended September. Market participants are likely to keenly watch
the management's commentary on competition, especially in the shampoo, oral care,
and detergent category. On Oct 14, HUL's parent company, Unilever, had cut the
growth outlook for its Indian operations for Jul-Sep on account of high commodity
prices. In India, prices in skin cleansing increased in response to rising commodity
costs, dampening consumer demand for the category in the quarter.

Among other FMCG majors, ITC is likely to trade in the range of 235-246 rupees.
Asian Paints is likely to report moderate growth in revenue with flattish margins due to
heavy rains. The impact of rains, however, is likely to be offset by high single-digit
sales in the early festival season.

Stocks of fast moving consumer goods companies are seen falling for the fourth consecutive
week as input costs continue to soar. Spending in rural areas, which accounts for the bulk of
revenue for most FMCG companies, was still subdued.

We expect the companies to take price hikes with sequential increase in commodity prices
and lower gross margin expansion. Though most consumer goods companies expect sales
volume to pick up in the festival season, initial reports from retail channels suggest that sales
continued to remain subdued until last week.

Among major FMCG stocks, Hindustan Unilever Ltd is likely to fall to 820 rupees, HUL's
parent company, Unilever, has trimmed the growth outlook for its Indian arm for Jul-Sep due
to rising commodity prices. "In India, prices in skin cleansing increased in response to rising
commodity costs, dampening consumer demand for the category in the quarter,"
Unilever's investor relations head Andrew Stephen said at the company's post earnings
conference call on Thursday.

Stephen's comments are in line with HUL's Chief Financial Officer P.B. Balaji's warning that
the domestic unit might find it difficult to grow in terms of volume. The recent volume trends
have been a bit of a concern. They have been at a multi-year low in terms of volumes. In
the near term, we are seeing concern as the management had said during a conference call
after the announcement of the company's earnings for Apr-Jun. In the coming week, FMCG
companies are likely to start detailing their earnings for the September quarter.

Stocks of fast moving consumer goods companies may correct further in the coming week, as the
sector faces pressure from rising cost of raw materials. Sales during the coming festival season are
unlikely to be high, and this might exert further pressure on FMCG companies. Q2 (Jul-Sep) has no
trigger to help sales as such. Growth in this quarter will be lower than Q1 (Apr-Jun). The impact of
monsoon will be visible at the earliest from Q3 (Oct-Dec). The demand for personal care products
could see an uptick in the December quarter in case the winter sets in early.

Performance of personal care products in Oct-Dec quarter was good in 2015-16 (Apr-Mar). It could
repeat this year if rural demand improves. The sector could see a growth of 3-3.5%. Among major
FMCG players, ITC Ltd and Hindustan Unilever Ltd are seen consolidating in the coming week. The
consolidation for Hindustan Unilever, India's largest FMCG company by volume, however, could be
short-lived, as it is expected to lag in growth in the September quarter.

The inventory turnaround for Hindustan Unilever is not happening. Its oral care and deodorants
businesses are not working well. Hindustan Unilever sells oral care products under the Pepsodent and
Close-up brands, while it sells deodorants under the Axe brand. Though Patanjali Ayurved Ltd has
consolidated its position in the oral care segment, the Haridwar-based company is still behind Dabur
India Ltd, which enjoys a share of 25-50% in this segment. As the market penetration increases,
Dabur will regain market share in some segments like Chyawanprash. There will be no further

deterioration.

FMCG Stocks Outlook for the week – 06 to 09.09.2016
To rise more next week on price hikes, monsoon

Stocks of fast moving consumer goods companies are seen extending their gains next week on hopes
of above-normal monsoon rains in September and price hikes. Though raw material costs have been
rising in the past few months, fresh spell of rains across the country has heightened hopes of an
above-normal rainfall, which could cool off some raw material prices. In the Jun-Sep monsoon season so far, India has received 709.6 mm rainfall. Though rains have been 3% below the normal of 728.3 mm for the period, it is unlikely to affect stocks as the deficit is manageable. Stocks of ITC and

Hindustan Unilever are expected to break out and touch fresh highs during the week. Last week,
analysts maintained a positive stance on Britannia Industries due to innovation-led growth and
product launches. We remain overweight to neutral on pure play defensives as secular earnings
coupled with sector rotation could lead to consolidation in near term valuations and offer stockspecific opportunities. Despite some hardening in menthe oil prices, input prices have largely been benign. Further, price hikes (2.0-2.5% in FY17) and a better mix could help counter the higher ad spends and maintain the present margin.

FMCG Stocks Outlook for the week – 08 to 12.08.2016
Largely positive; but some profit taking seen

Stocks of fast moving consumer goods companies are seen trading sideways with a positive bias as
the sentiment in the sector continues to remain upbeat due to good monsoon and the expected
implementation of Goods and Service Tax from Apr 1. Analysts say that despite consumer stocks
trading at extremely high valuations, fundamentals for the sector remain positive and could lead to
earnings estimate upgrades. Colgate Palmolive India Ltd and Britannia Industries Ltd will detail Apr-
Jun earnings on Monday and the market will closely look out for management's comment on volume
growth and margins. Stocks of Hindustan Unilever Ltd are seen trading positive. Marico Ltd is
expected to trade with a positive bias and can touch test a new high. Colgate India is also expected
to trade positive.

FMCG Stocks Outlook for the week – 01 to 05.08.2016
(Seen up on hope of Rajya Sabha passing GST bill)

The shares of fast moving consumer goods companies are seen trading on a positive note on the back
of higher expectations Rajya Sabha passing the Good and Services Tax Bill. The Cabinet has already
approved changes to the Constitutional Amendment Bill to roll out Goods and Services Tax,
accommodating the Congress' demand to drop the 1% additional levy on inter-state sales. The GST bill is likely to be tabled in the Rajya Sabha next week. Nifty FMCG today closed at 22228.85, down 0.3% from the previous close. Marico Ltd is seen rising to 290 rupees in short term while Dabur India Ltd is seen rising to 325 rupees.

Godrej Consumer is currently trading near its key support level and is expected to trade higher next
week. The stock fell 2.7% from the previous close to 1,590.80 rupees on the National Stock Exchange after the company announced its Apr-Jun results during market hours. The company said
that lower sales in the home insecticides segment had hurt the topline. Godrej Consumer's
consolidated net sales rose 6.8% on year to 21.2 bln rupees.

(Seen mixed, Asian Paints Apr-Jun earnings eyed)
  www.rupeedesk.in )

Stocks of fast moving consumer goods companies are seen trading on a mixed note next week, with
stock specific movement likely. Focus will also be on stock of Asian Paints Ltd as it will announce its
Apr-Jun results.

In the week gone by, Hindustan Unilever Ltd said that the near-term market growth is likely to remain muted. This statement by the company caused the stock to move into a negative zone and ended the week 4% lower at 903.20 rupees on the National Stock Exchange.

We are expecting that most consumer stocks are over-valued at their current levels and expect rangebound to negative movement in the short term. Britannia Industries Ltd and Godrej Consumer
Products Ltd are expected to trade with a positive bias.

FMCG Stocks Outlook for the week – 18 to 22.07.2016
(Seen sideways to weak, HUL earnings eyed)

The shares of fast moving consumer goods companies are seen trading sideways-to-weak next week
due to lack of cues and tracking movement in the broader market. The market will eye Hindustan
Unilever Ltd's Apr-Jun results, which will lend cues to the consumer goods stocks.

HUL's net profit for Apr-Jun is seen rising 9.4% on year to 11.6 bln rupees on the back of volume
growth and margin expansion. Net sales of the company are likely to rise 7.5% on year to 85.7 bln
rupees on the back of 3-6% volume growth. We expect the company's operating margins to be in the
range of 17.3-20.1%. A pick-up in the progress of monsoon rains over the past few days has improved sentiment for FMCG stocks.

FMCG Stocks Outlook for the week – 04 to 08.07.2016 (Seen up on good monsoon, positive broader markets)

FMCG Stocks Outlook for the week – 04 to 08.07.2016
(Seen up on good monsoon, positive broader markets)

The Stock of fast moving consumer goods companies are expected to continue their positive
movement next week due to good monsoon rains and a likely uptrend in broader markets. A pick-up in the monsoon through the past few days will lead to positive sentiment in FMCG stocks. The progress of rains has a bearing on the FMCG sector, as demand for consumer goods in rural regions is Dependent on the monsoon.

The broader markets are expected to trade positive on the back of good rains and a recovery in global
markets. Also, this week, the Union Cabinet approved the Model Shops and Establishment Bill, which allows shops and business establishments with at least 10 workers to be open 24x7, and 365 days a year. This is likely to result in a rise in consumer stocks.

The Cabinet also approved a pay hike for government staff, effective Jan 1.The implementation of the Seventh Pay Commission's recommendations on salaries and pension of central government staff will also lead to a rise in consumption, which will augur well for FMCG companies, as demand is expected to rise.

FMCG Stocks Outlook for the week – 27.06.2016 to 01.07.2016, Improved monsoon rains to lift sentiment

FMCG Stocks Outlook for the week – 27.06.2016 to 01.07.2016, Improved monsoon rains to lift sentiment

Shares of fast moving consumer goods companies are seen trading on a positive note next week, as
the broader market is likely to rebound after the sharp fall witnessed today on UK's decision to exit
the European Union. Pick up in monsoon rains in last few days is also likely to lift sentiment in FMCG.

The impact of 'Brexit' on Indian FMCG companies is seen limited. The progress of monsoon is the key factor that will determine the trend in FMCG stocks. After a sputtering start, the southwest monsoon seems to have finally picked up. In the week ended Jun 22, India received 39.5 mm rainfall, 7% below normal. Rains were 29% below normal in the week earlier.

Hopes are pinned on good monsoon this year for revival in demand and keeping inflation under
check. Progress of rains has a bearing on FMCG sector, as rural demand for consumer goods is
dependent on performance of monsoon. This week's exit was with "Brexit' and next week will be
driven by volatility due to expiry of June derivatives contracts on Thursday.

FMCG Stocks Outlook for the Week – 20 to 24.06.2016
Range-bound; delayed monsoon likely to weigh

Stocks of fast-moving consumer goods companies are expected to trade range-bound next week, in tandem with the trend in the broader market, but the delay in the onset of the monsoon will continue to weigh on the stocks. Share indices are likely to remain choppy, as investors will remain cautious ahead of a referendum on the UK's membership in the European Union, scheduled for Thursday. The India Meteorological Department has said that rainfall was weak in the first fortnight of the Jul-Sep monsoon season, with rain during Jun 1-16 at 25% below the normal, at 50.3 mm. Consumer goods stocks are sensitive to rainfall updates, as a good monsoon is crucial for a pick-up in rural demand. A surge in raw material prices and higher food inflation are also expected to have a negative impact on FMCG stocks. Yesterday, the Nifty FMCG index closed at 21044.60. Stocks of Godrej Consumer Products and Dabur India are seen trading on a positive note. Britannia Industries is expected to continue trading on a weak note in the coming week.

FMCG Stocks Outlook for the Week – 06 to 10.06.2016
(Move in a range; bias positive; HUL may gain)

The shares of fast-moving consumer goods companies are expected to move in a narrow range in the absence of fresh triggers. However, trade is expected to be positive as underlying market sentiment is upbeat. The Reserve Bank of India's bi-monthly monetary policy will be in focus next week, and any positive statements or move by the central bank will provide a further leg-up to the current momentum in stocks.

Although the unanimous opinion is that the RBI will maintain status quo on rates, direction on further interest rates, and more importantly, Governor Raghuram Rajan's second term at the RBI will be watched.

Though India Meteorological Department's forecast of a favourable monsoon has been factored in stock prices in the last two weeks, it is seen as a positive factor for investors. This week, most consumer stocks ended on a positive note on the back of the forecast of good a monsoon. Contrary to views of fundamental analysts on the sector, consumer stocks are seen up on the charts. Shares of Hindustan Unilever are expected to trade positive and the stock is seen touching 940 rupees next week

Shares of fast-moving consumer goods companies are expected to trade in a range next week, and Skymet's commentary Tuesday on the onset of monsoon may have an impact on consumer stocks depending on the statement made by the private weather forecasting agency.

On Sunday, the India Meteorological Department had said the onset of the southwest monsoon over Kerala is likely to be delayed by a week to Jun 7. Colgate Palmolive India Ltd will detail its Jan-Mar earnings on Tuesday. The company is expected to report a 3.5% on-year rise in net profit to 1.7 bln rupees, while net sales are expected to rise by 3.9% to 10.6 bln rupees. The toothpaste major's volume growth is expected to be in the range of 1-6%.

Stocks of fast-moving consumer goods companies are expected to trade in a range in the coming
week, and Hindustan Unilever Ltd's earnings for Jan-Mar will be eyed. The Mumbai-based consumer
goods major will announce its Jan-Mar earnings on Monday. While Hindustan Unilever's net profit for
Jan-Mar is seen falling 1% on year to 10.1 bln rupees, its net sales are likely to rise 5.6% on year to
79.8 bln rupees on the back of 3-7% volume growth. Asian Paints Ltd will detail its earnings on Wednesday. Its net profit is seen rising 28.3% on year to 4.4 bln rupees, while net sales are expected to rise 10.4% to 38.5 bln rupees. Last week, Godrej Consumer Products Ltd posted a
16.8% on-year rise in consolidated net profit for Jan-Mar at 3.1 bln rupees, while its consolidated net sales, in value terms, grew 8.8% to 22.7 bln rupees. Technical analysts see shares of index majors Hindustan Unilever and ITC Ltd trading in a range.

Mixed trend likely, Godrej Consumer result eyed

Stocks specific movement is expected in the fast-moving consumer goods space next week and
market participants will eye Godrej Consumer Products Ltd's Jan-Mar results. Stocks of index majors
Hindustan Unilever Ltd and ITC Ltd are seen trading in a range as both companies have not yet
announced their results. Godrej Consumer Products is expected to post an 18.7% rise in its
consolidated net profit at 3.1 bln rupees, while net sales are seen rising 8.3% at 22.5 bln rupees.
Stocks of Marico Ltd and Dabur India Ltd are expected to see positive movement on the back of
strong Jan-Mar results posted by both companies.

In Jan-Mar, Marico's reported a 25.8% rise in its consolidated net profit at 1.4 bln rupees and its net
sales were up 6.5% at 13.03 bln rupees. Dabur India beat market estimates, reporting a 16.6% rise
in its consolidated net profit at 3.32 bln rupees in Jan-Mar. Its net sales were up 11% at 21.57 bln
rupees. Dabur India is expected to trade positive, while shares of Colgate Palmolive India Ltd are

expected to trade with an upward bias.

FMCG Stocks Outlook for the week – 25 to 29.04.2016
(Seen trading in range; Dabur earnings eyed)

Shares of fast-moving consumer goods companies are seen trading in a range next
week, as there are no potential triggers to provide direction to stocks. Dabur India Ltd
will announce its Jan-Mar results on Apr 28 and we expect the company's net profit to
rise 10.83% on year to 3.15 bln rupees, due to strong sales growth in overseas markets,
coupled with robust performance in the domestic oral-care and hair-care segments.

For Jan-Mar, the company's domestic sales volume growth will be around 5%. We
expect the movement in consumer stocks will be seen after Hindustan Unilever Ltd and
ITC Ltd announce their earnings. We also expect Godrej Consumer Products Ltd shares
to trade in a range with a bearish bias.

FMCG Stocks Outlook for the week – 11 to 15.04.2016 (Seen trading in range; Jan-Mar earnings eyed)

FMCG Stocks Outlook for the week – 11 to 15.04.2016
(Seen trading in range; Jan-Mar earnings eyed)

Shares of fast moving consumer goods manufacturers are seen trading in a tight range with a negative bias next week, and the market will wait for companies' Jan-Mar earnings to take cues. Companies such as Hindustan Unilever are expected to trade with a negative bias, given the drought-like conditions in large parts of the country that is expected to hurt rural demand.

There is rising competition from home-grown FMCG Company Patanjali, too, which
offers more bang for the buck, and has generated consumer traction, particularly in
north India.

FMCG companies have had a good run over the past year, as they have benefited from
low input costs, which have aided margin expansion. Raw material costs are also likely
to firm up in the near future, especially for agricultural inputs.

FMCG Stocks Outlook for the week – 04 to 08.04.2016
Seen in range ahead of Jan-Mar earnings

Stocks of fast-moving consumer goods companies are expected to trade in a range ahead of the Jan-
Mar earnings, as there are no real triggers for the stocks. However, stocks of ITC Ltd are expected to
trade positive following the company's decision to hike prices of its cigarettes. In the week gone by,
the cigarette major's stocks have risen 3.6%. Analysts said investors will closely watch the rise in raw
material costs as they have risen during the quarter. FMCG companies in the last few quarters have
been able to post healthy margins due to lower commodity costs.

Companies like Hindustan Unilever Ltd and Marico Ltd had passed on the fall in raw material costs to the consumer in the form of discounts and price cuts. However, we expect FMCG stocks to trade
bullish next week. Nifty FMCG index has been showing tremendous strength for last five week and in fact it outperformed the benchmark Nifty index in the passing week as well. The report also said that in the short-to-medium term traders can concentrate on Godrej Consumer Products Ltd, Hindustan Unilever, and ITC

FMCG Stocks Outlook for the week – 21 to 25.03.2016 Seen weak as unseasonal rain to hit farm income

FMCG Stocks Outlook for the week – 21 to 25.03.2016
Seen weak as unseasonal rain to hit farm income

Stocks of fast-moving consumer goods companies are expected to be subdued next week, which will
see trading only on the first three days, as unseasonal rains in northern and western parts of the country are seen damaging Rabi crop, thereby hitting farm income. Markets will remain closed on Thursday and Friday due to Holi and Good Friday, respectively.

The country received 11.5 mm rain during the week ended Wednesday, which is around 75% more
than the weighted average of 6.6 mm, according to data released by India Meteorological Department.
Rains and thundershowers are likely at many places in the north-eastern states and at isolated places in the south Indian peninsula on Wednesday and Thursday, IMD said. Stocks of Marico will be in focus as the Maharashtra state government has increased value added tax on up to 500 ml coconut hair oil pack to 12.5%.
