* APOLLO TYRES: Proposed $2.5-bln acquisition of Cooper Tire is facing unexpected opposition from 5,000 striking Chinese workers in the eastern
Shandong province.

* DELTA CORP: SEBI has settled proceedings against UTV's founder Rohinton Screwvala and the company after they made a total payment of 1.36 mln rupees
towards consent settlement related to alleged violations of securities laws.

* EASTERN SUGAR & INDUSTRIES: Said it will issue 10 mln shares on preferential basis.

* FEDERAL BANK: RBI said purchases of the bank's shares by foreign institutional investors have reached the trigger limit of 49%.

* FINANCIAL TECHNOLOGIES: The board of arm National Spot Exchange has removed seven top officials including the chief executive officer and managing director Anjani Sinha. The Forward Markets Commission has said defaults by National Spot Exchange have cast doubts over the 'fit and proper person' status of the board of the exchange.
    -The NSE has prohibited fresh positions in derivative contracts of Financial Technologies India Ltd, after contracts in the stock crossed 95% of the market-wide open position limit.
    -The National Spot Exchange disbursed its first payout of 921.2 mln rupees today, but defaulted on nearly half of the payments.
    -National Spot Exchange has so far received 811 mln rupees from its buying members as part of its pay-in schedule.
    -The Forward Markets Commission has asked National Spot Exchange to distribute proportionately among its members the total amount received till now.

* FORTIS HEALTHCARE: Has completed the stake sale in its Vietnam unit for $80 mln.

* GVK POWER AND INFRASTRUCTURE: Is set to commission two expressways, two power plants and the new international terminal in Mumbai in the current financial year.

* HERO MOTOCORP: Has successfully test-fired at least two new home-grown engines, developed with technology partners.

* IDBI BANK: Has set aside over 2 bln rupees to spend on information technology infrastructure in 2013-14 (Apr-Mar).

* INDIAN OVERSEAS BANK: Has decided to raise $500 mln through a medium term note programme in Oct-Dec.

* JAIPRAKASH POWER VENTURES: May sell stake two hydro-projects on the Satluj in Kinnaur district of Himachal Pradesh.

* JSW STEEL: JSW Group's vice chairman and managing director Sajjan Jindal has written a letter to the government flagging concerns on iron ore mining leases
and rupee concerns for steel companies.

* MANGALORE REFINERY AND PETROCHEMICALS: Has resumed buying oil from Iran .

* MINDTREE: Is betting on internal crowd-sourcing of business ideas as it chases growth and to stay in sync with technology needs of enterprises.

* NMDC: Will set up a 500 MW power plant in Gonda, Uttar Pradesh with investment of 30.16 bln rupees with IL&FS Energy Development Co.

* OIL AND NATURAL GAS: The rupee's sharp fall will boost earnings from oil and gas sales for the company, CAIRN INDIA , RELIANCE INDUSTRIES and OIL INDIA as the dollar-linked price has risen about 17% in four months. The company and its consortium partners--RELIANCE INDUSTRIES and BG
Exploration and Production India--are jointly investing 9.50 bln rupees to drill more wells in the Panna field, near Mumbai.

* POWER FINANCE CORP: Has cancelled private placement of its bond issue this week due to lack of interest from investors seeking higher coupon payment.
RURAL ELECRIFICATION CORP has also done this.

* SRF: To close down its manufacturing operations in Dubai .

* STATE BANK OF INDIA : Managing Director S. Vishvanathan will submit a report on the possible candidate for associate bank merger to the bank chairman in two to three days.

* STEEL AUTHORITY OF INDIA : Has incurred 421.01 bln rupee expenditure till July this year from proposed total 618.70 bln rupee investment for current
phase.

* SUBEX: Has shut its services division to focus on the high-margin product business.

* SWARAJ ENGINES: Reliance Mutual Fund has cut its stake in the company to 6.48% by selling 146,000 shares on Aug 14.

* TATA MOTORS: May set up a production facility for commercial vehicles inBashkortostan, west of the Ural mountains in Russia . The company has developed Castrol RX Super Max Fuel Saver lubricant jointly with CASTROL INDIA .

* TATA STEEL: Joint venture company Tata Steel Minerals Canada has secured key permission for land use related to its proposed iron ore project in North-eastern Canada .

* VENUS REMEDIES: German arm Venus Pharma GmbH has got approval to sell generic broad-spectrum antibiotic injectable, Meropenem, in France .

* WOCKHARDT: Company said its promoter and promoter-entities have completely released shares pledged by them earlier. Bombay High Court has deferred the hearing of a case against the company, for allegedly selling banned drug Spasmo-Proxyvon till Sept 2.
