Pharma Stocks Outlook For The Week - 24 To 28.09.2018
Stocks of pharmaceutical companies are likely to gain next week on defensive buying by domestic
mutual funds given the immunity of the sector to slowdown in economic growth. The rooms for
more gains and likely recovery in earnings of drug makers have made the sector among the favorite for mutual fund managers grappling high valuations in most other segments of the market. Investors, who have turned risk-averse due to volatility in the domestic money markets, have turned to the stocks of pharmaceutical companies, which are considered safer bets. This week, the Nifty Pharma index underperformed the Nifty 50 index, losing 3.8%. Cues from the broader markets are likely to limit the gains for the sector as benchmark equity indices are likely to fall next week on caution among investors ahead of the US Federal Reserve's two-day monetary policy meeting and expiry of the September futures contract.
