Telecom Stocks Outlook For The Week - 29.10.2018 To 02.11.2018
Stocks of telecom companies may continue to be subdued next week because their subscriber base and financials are expected to remain under pressure from lower tariff and JioPhone of Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd. Despite the profit for Bharti Airtel, there is not much craze for the stock as their ARPU (average revenue per user) is still falling. There is no demand for telecom stocks among institutional investors. Bharti Airtel posted a consolidated net profit of 1.2 bln rupees for the September quarter. However, it was the 4.5% fall in ARPU to 101 rupees which was a concern. The imminent launch of Reliance Jio's fibre-to-the-home broadband service 'JioGigaFiber', and a tariff war there could also cripple Bharti Airtel's fibre broadband operation 'Airtel Homes'. Vodafone Idea is yet to declare its date for Jul-Sep earnings, and investors are likely to look at the company's strategy post merger. Vodafone India and Idea Cellular completed their merger on Aug 31 to form India's largest mobile operator.
