 * AVIATION: Etihad Airways has signed a Letter of Intent with Air-India to buy five Boeing 777-200 LR aircraft.

* BROADCAST: Peepul Capital Advisors Managing Director Srini Raju has said sluggish market conditions and economic stress have delayed its exit from Associated Broadcasting Co, which runs television channels under brandname TV9.

* ECONOMY: India is seeing a turnaround both in terms of growth in manufacturing and domestic demand, and buoyancy in exports, Trade Minister Anand Sharma said.

- The International Monetary Fund has cautioned that emerging economies such as India will need to employ "policy buffers wisely" if they confront significant capital outflows on US Fed Reserve's tapering of monetary stimulus.

* E-COMMERCE: Flipkart.com has mopped up a further $160 mln from mostly new investors, taking the total in the fifth round to $360 mln.

* ENERGY: The oil ministry will seek Cabinet approval for a general amnesty scheme for oil and gasfield operators, which will allow RELIANCE INDUSTRIES to retain fields worth $10 bln, which regulatory authorities want it to surrender.

* EXCHANGES: Economic Offences Wing of Mumbai Police arrested Amit Mukherjee, former assistant vice president-business development of National Spot Exchange, in relation to 58-bln-rupee scam. Joseph Massey and Jignesh Shah have resigned from the board of MCX-SX with immediate effect.

* IMPORT: Gold and silver imports plunged by over 80% to $0.8 bln in September on account of a slew of measures taken by the government to curb inbound shipments.

* LISTING: Technology entrepreneur Romesh Wadhwaniplans to take three of his portfolio companies public. Symphony Telecacould be the first to go public in the next 18-24 months, followed by two other firms of Symphony Technology Group.

* POWER: Andhra Pradesh government is likely to impose the Essential Services Maintenance Act for restoration of power supply in the state.

- The government plans to invite global bids for an interstate transmission projects worth over 200 bln rupees in the next two months to connect power generation projects in states, especially in Chhattisgarh, Haryana, Rajasthan and Tamil Nadu.

* REGULATORS: SEBI has decided to review the existing mechanism for trade annulment and put in place a clearly defined system for trade cancellations and subsequent penalties.

* RETAIL: Reckitt Benckiser ( India ), which sells products under Dettol and Strepsils brands, is awaiting regulatory approvals to launch a slew of products from its global portfolio in India .

* TELECOM: The National Security Council Secretariat wants to make it mandatory for Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd and Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd to invest in research and development to reduce dependence on imports.

- The government is looking to increase customs duty on telecom network equipment required for broadband services. SingTel group has initiated talks to buy the stake held by the Bharti group in its international long-distance telephony venture.
