Pharna sector earnings will be a major trigger for stocks of pharmaceutical companies next week, with Aurobindo Pharma and Cipla set to report their earnings for the September quarter. On
Tuesday, Cipla is expected to report a 17% rise in consolidated net profit at 4.2 bln rupees on account of a rebound in its India operations. Unlike other large-cap peers, Cipla is well poised to deliver robust growth in the US due to a lower base, coupled with significant pickup in filing quality and rate. The company's product pipeline for the US, which is seen boosting its growth there. Last week, the company received an approval for the generic of Renvela, which has a market size of $650 mln in the US. This is its first significant limited competition product in the US in the current fiscal. From here on, we expect the launch momentum to continue as Cipla has one of the best nearand
medium-term US pipelines with visibility on three near-term date certain exclusivities. The
company had a pipeline with possible exclusivity on four more products in the medium term, as well
as certain limited competition launches in the medium term.
Sun Pharmaceutical Industries, which will report its earnings on Nov 14, which will also be on the radar of expectations. Sun Pharmaceutical's largest facility at Halol had received a warning letter from the US Food and Drug Administration in December 2015, but the company hasn't been able to get it cleared yet, despite a re-inspection in December last year. With no new filings from the facility, the earnings of India's largest pharmaceutical company have been under pressure. The company gave a guidance of single-digit revenue decline for the current fiscal on that account. We are optimistic that the facility will be cleared by December as the company's management has said that they have completed remedial process at the plant.
