Telecom Stocks Outlook For The Week - 24 To 28.12.2018
Stocks of telecom companies are unlikely to attract interest of investors on concerns over persistent tariff pressure in the sector. 'Short-term traders occasionally buy the stocks, which leads to a rise in certain weeks. But overall, investors are still away from the sector for now due to high competition and low tariff'. Last week, many telecom stocks had risen after multiple weeks of decline, but again resumed their fall this week. Investors are not very keen on the top two players Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea for now, as the they continue to see erosion in average revenue per user. For Reliance Communications, the major trigger will be an approval from the Department of Telecommunications for its spectrum trading deal with Reliance Jio Infocomm. For the broader markets, the GST Council's meeting on Saturday will be a key trigger due to expectations of a tax rate cut on a number of goods.
